Renewal

RenewalSpring is one of my favorite times of the year. Especially when trees are just beginning to bud. I don’t claim to be a photographer, but every so often I do manage to take a decent photograph. Every spring, since I bought my home four years ago I’ve been meaning to get out and take pictures of the cherry tree in bloom. Today I finally did so.

New World

New WorldI’ve always loved stories from Greek mythology and certainly this painting draws from those stories. New World has undergone several transitions. It started as a figure study, then at some point I added the newly formed world. It sat way on the back burner for quite some time and this morning I finally finished it.

ReclinedReclined is an another older piece that I’ve revisited and updated slightly. It is a fairly simple figure study done mostly in browns.

Bird On The Beach

Bird On The BeachBird On The Beach This isn’t so much new as revised, in that I increased the area of the sky to bring it more in line with the rule of thirds. After doing so I think the piece is better balanced. Every time I looked at the painting it nagged me that something was wrong with it, but I was afraid of fouling what I’ve always felt was one of my better works. Being digital that is an ungrounded fear.

And if anyone cares to notice, yes the header and footer images are from this painting.

Doldrums

Seems I’m on an extended bout of “artist block”.  Sad, and doubly so because the last year or so I’ve been producing quite consistently.  I do have that backlog of unfinished pieces to go back to, but looking over them I haven’t had the urge to work on any of them.  The bad thing about blocks is that who knows how long it will last.

It may be time for a photo foray.  Just go out with my camera and shoot.
